Yesterday 13 June 2023 YouTube announced new requirements for creators to monetize there video with the YouTube Partner Program, with very significant reductions for both long-form videos and short-form videos.
The following are YouTube’s new guidelines for monetizing in 2023, which are already effective as i’m writing these alghough i have not yet seen message to my mail or notification on the dashboard of my youtube app and the reason is because its only available to limited countires right now which i will list below:
New YouTube Requirements For Small Creators
Long Form Videos
500 Subscribers
Within 90 days, 3 legitimate public uploads
3,00 watch hours over the previous year
Shorts Videos
90 days and 3 million real public shorts views
Prior to this, YouTube’s monetization requirements were 1,000 subscribers, 4,000 watch hours, and/or 10 million Shorts views. The new criteria severely undermine that and give producers the opportunity to make money from their videos far sooner in the process of developing a channel.
YouTube explains in a blog post that enabling monetization through these milestones will also unlock fan funding possibilities such as subscriptions, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. Through YouTube Shopping, creators will now be able to advertise their own products.
This new requirement will apply solely to users in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea.
YouTube also mentions in the same post that its Shopping tool is expanding its affiliate shopping service to any US creators with over 20,000 followers.

After the announcement of this YouTube Requirements For Small Creators you will be disappointed if you are outside of this countries that have access to the new features, i know that feeling just as facebook is not monetizing nigeria right now i’m so not motivated by all this but the good thing is that YouTube actually moves faster and will soon expand this program to other countries so you all should chill and keep uploading with positive vibes and you will eventually see the features everywhere.
