Google Translator is Getting a Material Design Widget Soon
Google Translate for Android formerly only had an 11 homescreen shortcut that allowed you to rapidly create and start a language pairing. The new widget has two rows and is designed to look like Google Maps. At the top, Google notes the current translation pairing, and selecting it launches the app. Shortcuts to enter voice, dialogue, transcribe, or camera mode follow. The bottom row varies depending on the language. The widget uses Dynamic Color theming and is useful for frequent app users. It follows last year’s beautiful overhaul of the Translate app, which was one of Google’s nicer Material You updates.Google Translate’s Android widget is still not extensively used as of today, with version 6.34.
