Jane Manchun Wong shared a series of screenshots of an in-development feature of Twitter Article on Wednesday. It also appears to encourage long-form content.
The functionality hasn’t debuted yet, but here’s what we noticed based on these screenshots:
It appears that you can format your text using headers and formatting.
Photos, tweets, GIFs, and videos can all be added. However, there are certain limitations: There are only four photographs, one GIF, and one video that can be submitted.
Wong later tweeted that the Twitter Article composer looks to have a “Focus Mode” that “expands the composer to the full screen, hides away the side bars.”
Wong also pointed out that Twitter Article isn’t always called Twitter Article in another tweet. The feature refers to itself as a “Note” in menus and pop-up notifications. “That name sounds familiar,” Wong replied.
If Twitter eventually makes this function available to everyone, it may be a fun long-form option that supports hot takes, threads, and more creative content. This feature may be especially useful to artists and food bloggers who frequently share images of their work.
It’s still in beta, but the way it combines tweets and photographs into a single post makes it look like a potential new tool.
