Duolingo, the widely popular language-learning app, has just introduced two exciting new features that make the app even more engaging. With its latest update, users can now explore Adventures and Video Calls.
Adventures is an interactive feature where you can navigate through different storylines and scenarios within the Duolingo world, featuring characters Lily and Oscar. This game-like experience helps users practice language skills by immersing them in real-life simulations.
Currently, each course unit offers one adventure, available to English speakers learning French and Spanish speakers learning English. However, more language options are expected to roll out over the coming weeks.
The new Video Call feature takes language practice to a new level, using AI to simulate natural conversation. Users can have a video call with Duolingo’s character Lily, allowing them to practice dialogue in a relaxed, pressure-free setting.
According to Duolingo, “Video Call is designed to replicate authentic dialogue, offering users a personalized and engaging language practice experience.” Some users are already seeing the video call feature in the app, though Adventures is not yet widely available.
Additionally, Duolingo has partnered with Loog, a company known for its portable instruments. Together, they’ve launched a new three-octave electric piano designed to complement Duolingo’s Music course. This instrument is priced at $249 and is currently available for preorder, with shipping starting in November.
Duolingo remains one of the top language-learning apps, and these latest features further solidify its standing. They certainly help offset the unpopular redesign of its app icon from earlier this year.
