Apple has released its latest MacBook Pro models, powered by upgraded M4 chips, now available in M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max variations. The updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro join the iPad Pro in adopting the M4 series, with a powerful new Space Black color option available for a sleek look.
Central to the upgrade is the M4 chip, bringing notable improvements for both single-core and multi-core tasks compared to its M3 predecessor. Expanding on this, Apple now offers the M4 Pro and M4 Max models, both built to cater to varying levels of professional performance.
The M4 features a 10-core CPU (four performance and six efficiency cores) and a 10-core GPU, while the M4 Pro ramps up with options for a 12-core CPU (eight performance cores) and 16-core GPU, or a 14-core CPU with a 20-core GPU. The high-end M4 Max steps it up further with a 14-core CPU with a 32-core GPU, or an optional 16-core CPU paired with a 40-core GPU.
Memory bandwidth also scales with each chip version: the M4 offers 120GB/s, the M4 Pro reaches 273GB/s, and the M4 Max hits up to 546GB/s, depending on configuration.
Although the core hardware is revamped, the MacBook Pro retains familiar elements such as the 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR displays. These mini-LED screens deliver peak brightness of 1,600 nits for HDR content and support True Tone, ProMotion, and Wide Color (P3).
On the connectivity front, M4 Pro and M4 Max models feature three Thunderbolt 5 ports, while the M4 model utilizes Thunderbolt 4. All models include MagSafe 3, HDMI, SDXC card slots, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3.
Enhanced by a six-speaker audio system, Spatial Audio support, and a suite of studio-quality mics with directional beamforming, these updates ensure the new MacBook Pro series delivers immersive experiences across audio and video.
The new M4 MacBook Pro lineup is available for preorder and will begin shipping on November 8. Pricing starts at $1,599 for the 14-inch and $2,499 for the 16-inch model.
